Start your plants in containers, and then transplant the seedlings into the garden later on. This insures that the plants will grow and thrive into adulthood. It also allows you to tighten up the time periods between plantings. You can plant the seedlings once you have removed the old plants.

Use biennials and annuals to add color to your flower beds. These fast growth plants make flower beds vibrant, and they let you alter the appearance seasonally and annually. They are very helpful when trying to fill in gaps between shrubs and perennials in an area that is sunny. Some excellent choices include rudbeckia, hollyhock, sunflower, cosmos, petunia and marigold.

When autumn has arrived, you must plant everything you want to eat before winter. This time, use a pumpkin for the container for your lettuce and kale, instead of plain clay pots. Hollow out the pumpkin and spray with Wilt-Pruf to prevent rot. Once you have finished, you can begin planting.
